Last year at this time Chef Jessica was nearing the home stretch in her pregnancy with her second daughter Amelie. Below is something she wrote while trying to stay cool. Pregnant or not, this summer heat can get rough. Enjoy her tips on beating the heat.
Executive Chef Jessica & Head Chef Nelson (from around the time she wrote this article)
Wheew! There’s nothing like being 7 months pregnant approaching the height of summer. I am roasting! Even if you are not pregnant, it can be a toss up between I am loving this summer weather and I am so hot and bothered, don’t even come near me!
Here are a few ideas for those of you that are pregnant or just over heating
STOKE the inner fire. SMELL the flowers, STEP INTO the flowing stream and feel it wash away what once was, and what doesn’t anymore serve. Open your Heart full and wide. Now is the moment to come into the light, into the sunshine, and to bask in the inner glow. It is a time of community, passion, beauty, magic, and visions coming into actualization.
Meet the Shine Characters: This week with Chef Jessica
Ok, here goes, a little introduction about myself, Jessica. My two greatest passions in life are my children and food. I am a compassionate and loving mother, chef/owner of my restaurant, SHINE and a have my masters degree in Holistic Nutrition. I want to support other moms in what we can share together to make our lives easier and our kids healthier. I believe that what we feed our children plays into every aspect of who they are. It affects everything from their energy level to sleep to attitude to intelligence. I just happen to spend much of my days with experimenting and creating with food. I have a lot to say and I look forward to sharing with you what I have learned and continue to learn.
In this quick introduction, I’d love to share a couple of quick and simple desserts with you. Most kids have a special place in their hearts for the sweet stuff. Instead of depriving them all together or chasing after their hyperactive little selves after a sugar overload, I believe we can find the happy medium. These can be put together within minutes and I believe your kids will love them as much as mine do. So for now, a little taste of what’s to come..
Welcome in the new era with warmth, love and gratitude. Crossover into 2013 surrounded by friends and family with live music and dance performances, organic food and hand-crafted beverages. It will be nothing less than a blissfully perfect celebration!!
